Irlanda – Lansdowne – Campioni 2013

Historic celebrations this evening at Lansdowne Road in Dublin with Lansdowne FC taking the 2013 All Ireland League Champions title, and with 2 rounds of matches still to play.

Since Christmas, their form has been nothing short of sensational. And in today’s Top-of-Table clash against nearest rivals Clontarf, while Lansdowne didn’t have it all their own way, their speed, skill, resolve and self-belief edged a tight affair, with yet another last gasp bonus point victory 32 – 25.

Of course you know that Lansdowne’s link with Lignano over the last 2 seasons has become part of local folklore and some might say even beach legend. For it was here that the Adriatic sands taught them what the hard yards are like when you front up against the finest exponents of SUPER BEACH 5’S RUGBY. And whilst their appearances in THE BEACH ARENA were perhaps more colourful than successful, we know the collective experience certainly served them well. This is a group of lads who bonded as a team in Lignano. They tasted defeat and learned from it, together. And today they have risen together, as 2013 Champions of Ireland.

At the SB5 Beach Clubhouse we stand and applaud their historic team and club achievement. This time boys “You’ve certainly earned your Stripes!” Enjoy the celebrations…….as we know you will. J

Lansdowne – Happy Days! J

But lest anyone out there forget……..the greatest of all Rugby challenges still remains…… where else but at the BEACH ARENA and the Golden Sands of Lignano Sabbiadoro…….
