News at SB5 HQ is that the CZECH Republic squad have had to withdraw from SB5 2015. Always a pity when it happens. And while there is misfortune for some, it always presents an opportunity for others. And our latest Challengers are fit and raring to go. All the way from Spain – Challenger #12 – Barcelona Barbarians Beach 5s.
With their own home tournament BCN Beach 5s taking place in Barcelona on the weekend of June 27-28, this invitational squad will have plenty of opportunity to test their strengths against many of those who they may meet inside the famous Lignano Beach Arena on 18-19 July. Only then will we know what these Barbarians are made of.
The popularity of Beach 5s Rugby in Spain is very much on the rise this year with both tournaments in Barcelona and Benidorm featuring in the expanding 2015 EBRA Beach 5s Series.
Judging by Spain’s development in the world of Rugby 7s, it won’t be too long before they become a real force in Beach 5s.
