At a time when their fellow country men are conquering the world of 7s Rugby, our next challengers will surely be one of the most anticipated arrivals at SB5 HQ this coming July for what promises to be an awesome 15th Edition of the worlds most legendary Beach 5s tournament. Reknowned for their spectacular inventiveness, game-changing speed and sublime skill, there’s surely only one team we could be referring to – say hello to Challenger #11 – FIJI WARRIORS .
While it will be their first appearance in the LIGNANO BEACH ARENA, a number of squad members have already made appearances at LIGNANO, including anchor man and charasmatic team manager, Danny Ligairi-Badham. His last appearance in the Lignano Beach Arena was lining out for the Belief TONGA squad 3 seasons ago.
On this occasion with the FIJI WARRIORS squad, Danny is putting together a fine blend of youth & experience, including a management team that features two notable New Zealanders – former Italian international, now turned TV pundit, Paul Griffen and former Maori front rower, John Akurangi. Now there’s a couple of guys to have in your corner come the moment of truth.
No doubt, the FIJI Warriors will capture the attention of the seasoned SB5 fraternity. But will they have what it takes to capture the greatest title in world Beach 5s Rugby ?
Remember, 5 minutes per half, means you’ve only ‘600 seconds’ to forge a path to victory. Under the heat of an intense Italian summer sun…….in addition to perspiration, it’s very often pure inspiration that seperates the sweet taste of success from heart-breaking defeat.
