Every 3 or 4 years there is someone who loses his way on the road to the ‘Temple’ of World Beach 5’s Rugby. Despite the continuous monitoring and the best efforts of our very own Team Liaison Director, Cesare, who maintains a vigilant eye over each of the selected teams in the months leading up to the tournament, nevertheless we occasionally lose someone along the way…….it happens!
This year, the Romanian “boys” have sadly been lost over-board at the last minute, unable to complete their voyage across the Black Sea…was it fear of what lay ahead in the Arena…? Who knows, perhaps they prefer the protection of the cool onshore breezes of Mamaia.
Whatever it may be, we take this moment to remind everyone,…. LIGNANO is to Beach 5’s as Hong Kong is to SEVENS Rugby, as Twickenham and Eden Park are to 15’s Rugby and as Wimbledon is to Tennis. He who turns his back on the Temple might just arouse the wrath of the Beach Rugby Gods….. Ruggers around the world …. don’t make the same mistake!
