For the 3rd year in a row we’re delighted that IRB HQ in Dublin have again confirmed they are sending one of the Top Tier Referee’s to officiate at the 13th LIGNANO INTERNATIONAL CUP.
Following on from Afonso Bahia Nogueira/Portugal (2011) & Frank Himmer/Germany (2012), joining us this year will be Vlad Iordachescu/Romania. Infact Vlad was scheduled to join our SUPER BEACH 5’s Referee Panel last year, but due to travel logistics from Salt Lake City, USA, where he was officiating at the IRB’s JWRT 2012 (he ref’ed the Final!), he was unfortunately unable to make it back in time.
This time we’re delighted to say the IRB have scheduled him again, and this time fresh from RWC SEVENS 2013 in Moscow. And so we very much look forward to finally being able to welcome Vlad into the LIGNANO SUPER BEACH 5’s Rugby Family. Infact this year will be a joint first for ROMANIAN Rugby at LIGNANO because not only will Vlad be the first ROMANIAN REFEREE to attend, BUT it will also be the first year for a ROMANIAN SQUAD to play at this legendary tournament. Yes, the BLACK SEA BOYS made it into the final selection following the unfortunate withdrawal of PORTUGALS, CAPARICA SHARKS. So all the signs are that a celebration of the best of ROMANIAN Beach Rugby is very much on the cards.
