Lega Italiana Beach Rugby

LIBR logo smallThe Lega Italiana Beach Rugby (L.I.B.R) was founded in 1997 when representations were made to the Federazione Italiana Rugby (F.I.R) seeking their involvement in the creation an official structure for the sport of Beachfives Rugby in Italy.

In response to their requests, F.I.R delegated the L.I.B.R to set up the first official National Beachfives League Championship. The league, which is played during the summer period, is generally rolled out from the end of May each year until the end of July. The end of season is marked by the Masters Final weekend, which determines the ultimate winner of the league.

With 28 venues all over Italy including The Magna Grecia Cup, The Sicilian Cup, the Comitato Sardo and up to 81 teams taking to the sand, this is the largest organised Beachfives league in the world.

This year, 2013, see’s the league in its 16th consecutive season.
